This is a plain-English summary of how StockWatch works — it is not legal advice. StockWatch is a free tool that helps students and first-time investors learn about the stock market; you don't trade real money through it.
What we collect
When you create an account, we store the basics needed to run it:
- Your email address and name, so you can sign in and we can reach you.
- The watchlists, alert rules, and alerts you create inside the app.
- Basic usage information — like which pages you open and standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) — to keep the app running and fix problems.
Where market data comes from
Stock prices, quotes, and related market data are supplied by third-party data providers. We don't generate that data ourselves, and we pass it through subject to those providers' own terms. It may be delayed or occasionally inaccurate — see the Terms of Service for details.
How we use your information
We use your information only to operate StockWatch: to sign you in, save your watchlists and rules, send you the alerts you set up, and keep the service working and secure.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your data to anyone.
- We don't run advertising networks on your information.
- We don't share your watchlists or rules with other users.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time. When you do, we remove your account details and the watchlists, rules, and alerts tied to it. If you can't find the option in your account settings, email us (below) and we'll delete it for you. Some routine server logs may persist for a short time as part of normal backups before they age out.
Students and younger users
StockWatch is intended for students and first-time investors who are learning about the market. We collect as little as we can — only what's needed to run your account (listed above).
If you are under 14, you need a parent or guardian's (or your school's) permission to use StockWatch — this follows Korea's Personal Information Protection Act, which sets the consent age at 14. A parent or guardian can email us (below) to review or delete a younger user's information at any time. We never sell data or show ads — to anyone, of any age.
